Airbag light - genuine fault or not?

Featured Replies

Last week I dropped the rear seats of my Octy and transported a new door home from a DIY store. At some point from starting the engine to getting home the airbag warning light came on.

Does anyone think this is purely coincidental or is it likely the door has knocked the airbag in one of the front seats? I don't have VCDS to check.

I have done a search on here and it looks like I need to hook up to VCDS to clear the fault as there is no other way of clearing it. If there are any fellow Briskodians here who can offer any advice or have VCDS in Birmingham or West Midlands area who could help me clear the fault, I would be very grateful?

Any thoughts guys?

I have done a search on the forum and am hoping I can just clear the fault and be done. I have read somewhere though that this may be a common problem that can cost up to £750 to repair and I am quite concerned?

I had this as a common problem on a new Superb - the airbag light always came on the first time I started the car, albeit not every day.

I had it back to Skoda and they checked it out - they thought it was because I'd moved my driver's seat recently - the wiring loom being under the seat. Coincidentally I had moved my seat, several times, but the problem always seemed to be intermitent.

A mate of mine worked in the motor trade as a technician and he suggested the seat movement may have disturbed a sensor. I think it will be a sensor issue rather than a safety issue. Hope this helps.
