New Polo Aerial

Featured Replies

Hi, im sure i've read in a post somewhere recently, that the short aerial off the new Polo fits the Fabia. Did i just imagine this or is it true?

cheers,

matt

I don't know for certain, but I think it is highly likely that it will fit.

If it's a thickish short one the same as the new ones on the Octavia and Superb then no it doesn't, the thread section isnt long enough to screw down into the tampe proof base, nothing to stop you fitting the whole lot though.

cheers guys, i'll have too look into it a bit more

How about a Honda / Toyota short aerial as used on the Civic Type-R and S2000 and the IQ??? They have the same thread as the VAG aerial used on teh fabia and are a straight swap. Had them on both our vRS's and moved mine over to my Lexus when i got rid of my vRS. Better reception than the OEM aerial too.

Cheers

I once bought a beesting aerial for my last Fabia, it looked great but go rubbish reception from it. Is there one that i can get which will give me good reception.

See my response above...... I can't say about the Toyota one as i have never used one but i know it has the same thread size as it can be used on my IS which is the same thread as the Fabia... But the Honda one has better reception than the OEM Skoda aerial as can be confirmed by others on here who have used them. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Yep confirm Honda s2000 far better than the standard OEM whip.

well i should be able to lay my hands on a Toyota one fairly easily lol. only problem now is getting the old one off, is there a knack too it or do you just unscrew and pull the damn thing off cos mine dont wanna come off!

Just unscrew and give it a bloody good yank and it'll come off.

As i say above i can't confirm how good the Toyota IQ aerial is but as far as i'm aware it should be the same size thread. Both ours are the Honda ones.

The one works from the new Seat Ibiza, think its the same aerial?

Half the size of the original, fits the base perfectly, super bendy, and only costs a fiver!

I asked a VW parts bod about fitting the current Polo aerial to a Fabia.

Response was "We only sell the whole unit with base, not the mast alone. £180".

Go figure

bought that for mine, looks sweet, fits sweet and it less than a tenner.

good reception too :)

The biggest factor with these is where you live.... There aren't too many hills in MK hence you get good reception. I'd like to know how you'd get on with it in this neck of the woods. emoticon-0105-wink.gif

ok, i've got hundreds of toyota ones here i can try in it, the only thing is i cant get the current one out, is it literally that you just unscrew and pull it, cos all thats happening is it aint coming out and the roof is starting to move up the harder i pull!

fair comment dave, but I no longer live in MK, I now live in the middle of the chilterns, pretty hilly!

and it still copes fine :)

to get the old one out, I let it fall so it was lying flat then tugged away from the boot, took a fairly tough one to get it out though!

Yes the new polo one dose fit ive got 1 on mine all you got to do is trim the base of the ariel where the thred is and it will got on
