Hello,

I have just noticed white smoke coming from my tail pipe is this something to do with the turbo?

Any help would be good. The car is a vrs mk1 and done 100k.

When does it happen? Its normal when the start the car up and set off.

It happens even after the car heats up. What's the best test to do

White smoke could be a blown head gasket. Check your oil for signs of coolant, & the oil filler cap for mayonaise.

Or early signs of a blown turbo. Check for heavier than normal oil consumption.

Other checks for HGF include having the coolant analysed for combusiton product, and having an engine compression test done.

Mine puts out white smoke if its cold or if there is excess moisture in the exhaust. Like this morning it put out a bit of white smoke on idle as it was only 4c outside and the car had been sat all weekend.
