Ridiculous Skoda Charges

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

So after a few months of driving around with my drivers side window stuck closed thanks to the usual regulator/paper bits Skoda seemed to have used to hold up my window, I decided to see of my local Skoda garage could help.

I explained it seemed to be a common issue and the parts I thought it needed to fix the problem.....

They clearly thought I was a bit special and talking out of my rear end and promptly suggested I hand over £90 for them to inspect and diagnos the problem and then pay for labour and parts on top!!!

So my local stealership aren't much help and I'm left trying to find a garage of any sort to fix my window in the Suffolk area.

I'm not really keen on the idea of a cheapo eBay part either!

At least it stuck up ;) I am sure there must be a DIY guide on one of the forums for the regulators.

The Job is not nice to do and Skoda are pricing based on it being a crappy job, so does not surprise me on that price, Expect to pay lots on labour too, because it is a pain. If you are reasonable with DIY perhaps follow the guides and have a go.

Thats not the price to fix the problem that's the price for me to hand over the car to them for an hour so they can diagnose the problem....they want labour and parts on top of that!

To be honest the car is in superb condition with a too notch service history so I'd rather get it done by someone in the know..

My 1999 Octy had 3 regulators changed by a local independent for £100 or so a time. The parts are about £65 iirc, so labour about £35.
