Engine Bay Cover

Featured Replies

Hi,

The plastic cover that protects the underneath of the engine bay has somehow come off. I presume that i've bottomed the car and this has cracked it because there's a little piece of it left screwed in on the nearside of the car and the rest is missing (somewere between Leeds and Durham!).

I've looked on ebay and found a replacement for around £65 and then there's a £35 delivery charge.

My question is...can I get away with not replacing it, or is it a must have part? If I have to replace it, does anyone know where i can buy one cheaper than ebay up in the north east please?

Regards

im prety sure its not essential, it may keep abit of water/mud from splashing up into your engine bay, but i cant see how it would have any negative affect

It's not a particularly substantial cover in the first place so apart from stopping a bit of muck splashing up and giving the underside of the car slightly better wind deflection i don't think you will miss it.

Will also shave about 5 mins off the time it takes to do an oil and filter change.

Apparently a diesel one covers more of the underneath but not sure its a straight fit.

I don't have any covers at all and mine is okay...
