Hi guys,

I'm going to look at a 170k MK6 Transit this arvo. Anyone run one here?

I used to have the MK5 which was slower than a snail on the road As long as the MK6 get sup to 70mph i'll be happy..

The fact that it is cheap and 3 miles away from me is swinging it....also MOT'd and Taxed till December 2011..

Basically, its going to be used as a workhorse for carrying heavy loads 2-3 times a week...

Any opinions?

I have had my mk5 2.5d for 9 years now.......there not the fastest things are they! The mk6 are not to bad,they can suffer from rust on the body & get quite rotten underneath if not looked after,they do suffer from fuel pump problems,is this one a tdi or a tdci? & the gear linkage can seize up,at that mileage id just view it on its condition,what has it been used for? has it been serviced regualy? if its cheap it could be worth a look.

Hi mate. Its a TD....

The MK5 was slow man..... So slow it was actually cool. I remember having a pallet and a half of booze in the back and it refusing to get up an incline. Was embarrassing to say the least!

Regarding the MK5, i had to give it away as scrap as the rust had destroyed the underbody. Could not even get an MOT for it..

Will give it a gander and see what's what.

So they never sorted the rust issues on the MK6 then???? will look at it based on condition

This is the last year for my mk5 as its body is too far gone now,the mk6 still rusts! we have a 07 at work thats rusting already,the tdi is more reliable than the tdci,we ran a 02 from new & got rid after 102k (3yearsold) & had no problems at all with it,it was however rusting on the body & the entire underside was rusty.

VW all the way when it comes to vans. Never looked back, got a T5 Transporter and its great, was loaned a new Transit when we looked at changing the last transporter and it was quick but a tin box really
