Alternator removal on OCTY 1

Hi all can anyone shed some light ive just brought a new alternator pulley and belt tensioner as my old one has seized and broke the tensioner. Is it possible to repair it myself or should i take it to the garage. Is it poss to change the pulley whilst the alt is still in place or have i got to drop it out as it looks like ill have to move the ac pump first. This is a 110 tdi does anyone know of any links to a vid or somat as ive you tubed it and cant find anything..

There is a how to on either mkivs or vwvortex for the mkIV golf which is the same, I think it's the latter. And yes it has to come out the bottom and you need to undo the aircon compressor and move it to one side.
