Octavia Shuddering.

Featured Replies

I have a 1999 SLX 110 BHP Octavia.Has any one had the problem of shuddering when slowing down I have been told that it is some thing to do with the Flywheel as it is fluid balanced I have had the car from new.

Hi, can't help I'm afraid - but will move thread into my maintenance :)

(more likely that someone who knows will see it)

If it happens under braking its probably warped brake discs

flywheel is dual mass and not fluid balanced. when does it shudder? accelerating/braking/steady/standstill/turning?

Whereabouts in the car does the shuddering feel like it's coming from? Is it engine/transmission, or is it through the brake pedal, or something else?

It sounds like the warped brakes that has plagued my car 2000 SLX 110 BHP Octavia through its 100,000 miles, on 4th set and well overdue more.

 Why is this in the new octy thread?

The car has only done 41.541 mls and it has have 4 new sets of discs on the front when slowing down you can fell it through the brake pedal buy just resting your foot on tha pedal with out applying any pressure

 Is that 4 sets of brakes? was any covered under warranty?

10k per set of discs  as said have any been done under warranty? do you drive the car real hard?

Could it be a dodgy ABS sensor or something?

Either way, to need new discs 4 times in 40k miles is not right!
