Warranty Direct

Featured Replies

Warranty Direct are trying to sell me a 12 month warranty. Has anyone had any experience with these?

I'm quite tempted as its only about £30 p/mnth and i'm a little worried about this Siemens injector failure in my PD 170.

The warranty seems pretty extensive and they even cover wear and tear parts (not consumables like tyres, exhausts etc).

£300 odd seems quite a lot if you dont use it but if things do go wrong it could be a significant saving in the long run.

Any advice would be welcome, thanks.

You would also need to pay the garage up front then claim back assuming they will cover it in the first place.

I have just taken out one of these as car was three years old. As with all insurances it seems quite expensive if nothing goes wrong, but there are potentially some failures (such as the ABS which could come along) and make it worth while, I guess the proof is how they respond and pay up if I ever need to use the warranty... there are quite a few general threads over the internet, as usual some complaints but in general terms I was happy enough with their terms and too the plunge !

I got a new diesel VRS last month and I got 5 year warranty cost me £500 to extend it the additional 2 years inc RAC cover I don't know if that is an option to add it later on but you never know

thats a great deal in my opinion the rac covers worth 150 to 175 quid on its own, was it something you had to ask for or was it offered ,? also does anyone know how much it would be to increase the warranty on an octavia when the current warranty runs out after 3 years.

Warranty direct sell themselves on the basis that they cover wear and tear items, extending the manufacturers warranty doesn't but on the other hand, the extended manf warranty (about £350 for a year) includes the RAC... have to decide based on which you think is more important.

I wasn't told about it at all when they gave me a copy of my order form I saw one of the options next to the paint protection one saying declined was also 1year extended warranty inc RAC and 2 year extended warranty inc RAC and prices were next to them so I got it added. This was then activated with SUK before I picked up the car.

No idea how you'd go about adding it or if it can be done but if you had the car from new prob best to ask dealers how you'd go about. it

Put the £30 per month into a savings account, before you know it you'll have saved a nice little lump to pay for any repairs.

If nothing or very little goes wrong the money can be used as a deposit for your next vRS :smirk:

Not in my experience - most garages can put it throught an automated system for a yes/no prior to work being done.

Got my moneys worth on my A6 over 3 years so will definitely look for it when my Octy turns 3.

This is what we do. £75 into nominated bank account. Quickly adds up. Then either keep it or use to buy tyres etc.

I used WD on my previous Octy. I just about got my money back out of them, but I still had to cough up lots as I was doing high mileage and they deduct an increasing percentage over 60,000 miles for every 10k over. They don't pay for diagnostics either.

my bill around £1100, I had to pay £300 for the DMF. (car had done about 80,000 miles)

my bill around £1200 again, I had to pay £800 for the a/c compressor and associated parts. (car had done 97,000 miles)

In both instances I had to pay the bill and wait for warranty direct to send me a cheque, which I had to chase......

They are much better for lower mileage cases as they pay a high percentage of the bill.

It covered the cost of the warranty, so I was not out of pocket. I guess I saved about £200 because I used WD rather than paying the whole bill myself and not using WD.

Those 2 items are the most common failures on higher milage Octavia's.

i got a warranty with Quentin Wilsons warranty wise , couldnt recommend them enough , it paid for itself within 6 weeks of me taking the policy out when i had an injector failure , i paid the garage WW paid me simple
