Delivery Checklist?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Anyone have a checklist of what to go through when picking up a new Yeti?

Getting my one tomorrow and the "excitement" of picking up a new car is all about getting in and driving it!!

I want to be cool and calm and give a good check, I got something for my Sciroco from scirocco central which was useful, just looking for any "gotchas" Thanks!!

I concocted this from a few lists people published on here. Had it all ready and then on the day promtly forgot it at home!!!!!! Doh!

The first part was just my own options and a list of the factory and dealer things to check (so not pasting that here as yours will be different).

Check your registration number is correct on both front and rear of car. (Yes, I've heard of front and back plates being different or the same but wrong!)

Make sure your fuel flap opens! (Mine did not and I only realised this at the fuel station!)

And the rest (apologies for the formatting! It is just cut and pasted from an Excel sheet!)

Check paintwork (on dry car)

Check bodywork

Bonnet insulation (diesel)

Check Coolant level

Check to see that the downlighters work in the mirrors when you open the doors. If they don't, it's an indication that the lights haven't been reset from their "transport" mode.

Check the pre-delivery inspection (PDI) has been carried out, and the service book is stamped to reflect this.

1- Battery connections being tight - heard 2 stories of these jumping off on a journeys & causing a real headache to find.

2- Oil level - The car does come with some in it, but its worth checking its been filled

3- Brake fluid level - Same as 2

4- Coolant level & is it correct specific gravity for winter

5- Tyre pressures - These can get forgotten.

Check PDI stamp is in book

CHECK VAG codes are for your vehicle.

Check front chrome grille around badge for brown markings - known problem at the moment.

The volume of the beep is linked to the volume of the voice control: To turn the volume down, press the right hand side rotary steering wheel button, this activates voice control. Then rotate the button until the volume of the voice becomes bearable, press the button again to cancel voice control.

MDI Iphone / iPod / USB - test and CABLE present

Bluetooth connection works (streaming / phone)

front and rear seat belts

fold down seats

glove box / driversside box

seats up and down

steering column (in/out up/down)

12 Volt work

Windows - run down, double click up and make sure close

Manual / Papers in wallet - service book filled / VIN physical and carRadio security code

Wheel nuts / locking nut adapter in kit

Spare wheel / jack etc

External:

Too much tyre black? (wipe off or will spray car)

Paint in sun (Scratches, spots, marks, OPEN ALL DOORS)

Gaps in doors / split seals

Stone chips (fog and head lights)

Broken / Missing things

Check springs for transport blocks

Engine compartment clean

Fog lamps cornering works

Tyre pressure ok

Someone else on here (and apologies for not remembering who!) made this one:

+ Check roof rails.

They sometimes get scraped while on the transporter and some dealers think a touch of black paint is fine to hide it while you take delivery.

Thanks to all, much appreciated

Spreadsheet created, must remember to take it with me :)

Roll on tomorrow morning :D

Oh for those picking up a diesel the the N75 valve My link and one from way back, damage to the floor-pan during shipping.

TP

Check it's got a valid and correct Tax disc.

The dealers often leave them off the car "til the last moment".

Easy to drive off without it.

Hope to see you around the 'shire soon!

Good Lord- makes me wonder how I have got away with turning up at dealer, giving the man money in exchange for keys and..er..driving into the sunset. If I have a spare hour or two to kill when I pick mine up I know what to do now.

Checklist was worth it, Oil temp in MFD not working and passenger side mirror not lowering when in reverse (switch in L) :dull:

so the latter is working perfectly correctly then?

Bizarre things do happen, a colleague of mine arrived home with his brand new motor and later discovered that the front and rear number plates did not match. The dealership (Honda) sent someone out pronto and put it right.

That reminded me of about 6 years ago when I went to collect a brand new Honda CRV. At handover the sales guy gave me all of the documents but the owner's manual was actually for a Civic. :o

Thankfully I spotted it much to his embarrassment.
