I've heard of an issue with numerous VAG cars with stereo wiring wires being the wrong way round is it the constant live and ignition live? as my stereo does not hold info settings,cd position etc any advice greatly received:)

Yeah you need to swap them over, most accessory looms have bullet connectors to allow this, red and yellow wires.
