White estate - spoiler colour

Featured Replies

I had my boot lid spoiler area damaged in the frost when a piece of brick fell off my chimney. Anyhow I had 2 choices - bodyshop or vRS spoiler. I opted for the spoiler option then got burned by Superskoda by not buying what I thought I was buying. The result is I have a spoiler that needs painting. The question is: white to match the car (but they tend to be unnoticable then), gloss black to contrast the white and match the A & B pillars, or satin black to match the roof rails? Holding the shabby un-prep'd spoiler against the car which is a patchy dark grey/black I think the contrast idea is quite bold and a little retro but I'm uncertian as to whether it will look cheap. Opinions please chaps

Thanks in advance

black imo

Why not. Nice and unique.

I like the satin idea break from the crowd

Black sounds like a plan :)

Not skilled enough to do shiny to emulate a gloss finish but hopefully of help with your decision.

Personally, I'd stick with the white on the estate, although I have pondered getting just the spoiler on my hatch wrapped as I've not opted for the black roof.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to go with satin black and see how it looks partly because I think it will be ok and partly because it is the easiest colour to spray at home and get an excellent finish. If I don't like it I can simply rub it back a little and stick a few coats of gloss black on. I'll post pics afterwards.

I decided to have a go at gloss black in the end and the results have exceeded my expectations. The finish I got after a bit of work was well worth the effort. Problem no.2. I attached the spoiler using 3M type double sided foam tape which was tricky as it has an instant grab but got there in the end. However it has now had a full day in direct sun (having spent a few days out of it) and has got hot enough to start to lift so I plan to remove it and refit using tigerseal polyurethane adhesive. Anybody any experience of using this?

Cheers

Steve
