Air-con not going cold enough

Featured Replies

With the recent weather the Climate/Air-con doesn't go cold enough. No associated issues ie cyles properly between hot & cold, fan and vents working as they should. So guess it needs a regas?

Anywhere local to Northampton that someone can recommend for Re-gas/service.

Skoda by us is £90 inc pollen filter and regas.

ask a local small truck refrigeration specialist - they can do a far better job and it'll cost you less - change the pollen filter yourself - make sure and get an activated carbon one

Thanks.

Fitted a new (genuine) Skoda/VW pollen filter a few weeks ago. So looks like a regas then.

for the extra piece of mind I would get them to fit a new reciever drier unit at the same time, the part is only £20 and will make the aircon work much better once fitted..

my vrs aircon wouldn't work at all when I bought it as this filter was blocked..

skoda recommend changing every 2 years (but they want £95 for one)

Kwik Fit do a regas for £50 and also do not charge if the regas does not make a difference

Where does this drier unit fit? Can it be changed at home, or does changing it mean all the gas escapes and thus an aircon place needs to do it, along with a recharge/refill?

Looks like it is

Recharge or No Charge

Let Kwik Fit recharge your Air Con while-u-wait. We will replace and recharge lubricant and refrigerant levels in line with your manufacturer’s recommendation. If we cannot improve the coolest vent temperature from your car by more than 10% when measured in degrees Celsius - then you pay nothing at all.

It is attached to the condenser. Yes, you lose any existing gas. If you do fit it yourself then the system should be vacuumed down ASAP after or it will absorb any moisture from the air that is now in the system. If the drier doesn't come with o-rings, you will need two - 8E0 260 749

If the system is opened, it would be a good time to replace all the o-rings and maybe the TXV as well.

Quite like the look of this, how long has it lasted? I normally stick with OEM spec parts (well, for these sort of components!!), is this an aftermarket drier? It looks it.
