B664 - My favourite road.

Featured Replies

My favourite driving road is the b664 between Market harborough and back again. Has been since i learned to drive 21 years ago. Great mix of corners, hump-back bridges, straights, hairpins, camber changes and all the hazards you can think of. Lovely.  It hasn't changed a bit in all those years apart from they kindly resurfaced a large chunk of it a couple of years back. Another good thing is that there are quicker ways to get between those places so it's generally deathly quiet - just watch out for tractors!

Took the fabia vrs down a stretch of the other day and I was more impressed than I thought I would be. Not since my old Nissan primera has a car come alive and felt so at home on a b-road. It was great fun. Not saying it's faster than any other particular car (I don't care either way), but it felt composed and fun at legal speeds. Cooked the brakes a bit though, but you can't have everything.

Anyone else know this lovely back road?

Got a few of them here in the valleys. Up and over the brecon beacons from penderryn to the brecon road is a good un. About 4 miles of twists turns, dips, straights and very open so you can see all the road ahead. Tyre munching road though.

Yes lovely road, I see a nice black VRS on this road daily.

Definatly a great road to drive on

I enjoy the A537 Buxton to Macclesfield road (aka the Cat & Fiddle). Great place for a spirited drive! :)

Used to be better when I went on a bike although not quite as safe, I think it's regularly been deemed the most dangerous road in England but I'm guessing that's due to it's popularity with bikers and the amount of biker fatalities.

The B664 was on last week's episode of Top Gear (ep3) :)

(the one where they bought two old £7000 cars - a merc S coupe and the old BMW 7series)
