DPF , ECL, what a location

Out for a nice drive and the DPF light came on. I'd been doing between 20 and 40 for around 30 miles cutting through villages in Ireland.

When the light came on...

I was here: http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll=53.063121,-6.401981&spn=0.266145,0.532837&z=11&layer=c&cbll=53.055565,-6.411394&panoid=7-ePaGOkpObfOVVUt4CvYA&cbp=12,137.32,,0,21.46

I really did struggle to get the dpf light off, but it did go off eventually ;) SWMBO even accepted the reasoning for a bit of third gear antics

12 hours later and the return drive, the ECL lamp is now on.

Will have to get her to a garage for some diagnostics after the bh weekend, as nothing of any use in maxidot and no loss of performance so I'm at a bit of a loss...

Sounds like sensor problem.

There are known problems with at least one batch of the differential pressure sensor which is used to monitor the pressure drop across the DPF.

Ours failed last week. We have a code reader which gave the above fault.

Phoned Skoda Support who sent out an RAC VAN. But this is not an ordinary RAC VAN - it is dedicated to VAG.

They plugged in their code reader, confirmed the fault. They had a new sensor on the Van, which was fitted and calibrated. Took about 90 minutes in total. I was impressed with the service

That sounds impressive. I will bet that there is likely to no more than one or two of these vans north of the border (if any at all)!!

Had a similar problem with mine last week, glow plug light flashing followed by permanent Engine light on meaning 'exhaust system problem' - diagnosed by local dealer as pressure sensor with intermittent fault on DPF - quickly and efficiently replaced under warranty.

Got back to Wales on an overnight boat, then entered limp mode.Luckily RAC man wasn't far away. He could not resolve there, but arranged another RAC man with the right kit to have a look. He got it going with some VAS thing, tenacity and some old fashioned approach, he got his hands dirty.Regrettably dpf came on again 20 miles later, but it got us home.

Just took it to the local dealer, however as of this AM, no lights on dash. They have told me to drive it till it fails again, or leave it with them for 72 hours to clear faults (no alternative vehicle) and see if it re-occurs. "Unlikely to be a problem"

Really? Oh how it made me laugh, really it did.I mean I only need to drive 90 miles a day for work, bring on limp mode and another call to the RAC then <img src='http://ww1.briskoda.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0124-worried.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':S' />

Oh dear Colin, doesn't sound good.

Can you not use the line " Do you know who i am! "

We should all be complaining to skoda direct telling them not to fit DPFs to uk spec cars
