Hi guys, having checking over the engine bay over the weekend I've noticed quite a lot of oil around this area. (pictured)

I know you can have build up of oil in this area but surely this isn't right.

Any ideas of possibles causes would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, this is your egr valve which is at fault, if you look at the front of it theres a tiny hole, well the seals fail internally and oil seeps throught the hole, mine started to do it but not as bad as yours hope this helps.

Yeah definitely EGR valve. It needs a good clean up but alot of guys on here get fed up and just take it off completely. Not sure how that goes down when it comes to M.O.T though.

Mine is like this, if not a bit worse.

I don't wanna go down the EGR delete route. Do I clean it or replace it?

Is there a guide on this? Anything to watch out for?

I have attempted today to clean mine but cannot access the lower bolts behind the egr grrrr.

Looks like i need to go buy a long reach ball ended 5mm allen key!And thats not gonna happen on a bank holiday lol

That looks like a coolant leak mate but as for the leak from the egr valve mine is leaking as much as yours is (but I drive a Polo GT), I wiped the oil away about 250 miles ago and then it was back with a vengeance but I currently have my turbo off so I will remove the egr and give it a clean inside. Does anyone know if an EGR leaking this much oil could cause turbo overspeed?? As that was diagnosed as what destroyed my turbo.

I recently found the same oil leak problem.

Can anyone direct me to a good guide on how to remove, clean and replace the egr?

Mine also has oil leaking out of the hole, not quite as bad as the ops pics though. Seems quite normal? I had an Ibiza FR PD130 and that was exactly the same.
