Retrofit cruise control - working but signal implausible

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Having bought the proper Skoda retrofit pack for cruise control, I've done the install as OEM (ie connected up the 6 way connector to the control unit, and the wire to the brake pedal) but to avoid the full dash out scenario ran the white wire through to the ECU in the engine bay as per http://www.fabia-vrs.com/technical-info/cruise-control-retrofit/

Having coded up the feature in VCDS, I'm getting implausible signal from the cruise control... However, everything works (all switches, speed control, brake/clutch pedal cancelling it)... so I'm a bit confused as to what's missing thats causing the error.

Has anyone come across this before? I'm wondering if it's something to do with the half OEM type install (the fabia-vrs.com guide was different as the colours on the cable didn't match mine) - perhaps the white wire also needs connecting elsewhere not just to the ECU?

Cheers

Lee

i connected the white wire to the ecu doing the retro fit and its all fine. Im guessing there is a loose connection somewhere?

I do installs for people on mk4s etc for heated seats, cruise control, mfa control etc and wire colours confuse people all the time.

Ignore the wire colours completely and wire in everything based on pin or connector numbers. That way, you'll know that they are correct.

I tired fitting the some kit to my 04 vrs with the same result.I wired the white wire to pin 10 as it says in the book that you get with the kit but in do not work, in the end had to get a skoda fitter to get it working.Good luck

You can't get the wires mixed up if our using a kit, it's pretty much plug and play.

As long as you have a 12v supply to the blue and red wire, the white wire is connected to the white wire in pin14 as the ecu and the plugs are in inn that should be it.

The only problem I sometimes get is a signal missing from electronic load controller fault. To clear this you just need to start the engine and then turn it off, it will then re sync and clear.
