Paint imperfections

Featured Replies

Ok I have been a bit behind on keeping my car clean with the winter etc.

Yesterday I spent the whole day cleaning it, I started by rinsing with the power hose then washing with autoglym shampo and a sponge. I then dried with a leather and applied Autoglym extra gloss to the paint work.

I nothiced about halfway down the doors the bottom of the doors and the rear bumber felt very rough while applying it. Also when looking at the cloth after doing say the roof it was still white after applying it to the sides and back the cloth was a rusty orange colour.

It feels like there is little bits of something stuck all over the paint work but an awful lot of it. Does anyone have any ideas? I had though of getting a good zymol or swissol kit do you think this would help?

Although I haven't used one myself, it does sound as if you should try using a clay bar to clean the paint thoroughly before waxing. Swissol and Meguiars do one. You can find details of the latter here.

does it take long to do and will the pre-wax clensers not do this also?

Thanks for the feedback so far

Nope, sounds like you need the clay bar before the cleaner wax
