Autocar have just awarded the Octavia "small family car 2005" I dont really see it as small? They are comparing it with astras and golfs, surely it should be compared with Mondeos and lagunas etc? It looks and feels pretty big to me.

I agree is it the price range?

They must live on thier own planet if they think the new Octy is small.

The Octy shares the floor pan, wheelbase and interior space of the New Golf and thus is competing with cars such as the new Focus etc.

The Octy does have larger overhangs giving it a slightly longer bonnet and a massive boot.

The Octy's external size is bigger than cars in it's class but large cars are getting bigger all the time. The Mondeo is huge inside and out, the 3 series was always classed as Mondeo sized but the New Mondeo is as big as the old 5 Series.

And the Fabia is bigger than the original Golf but is classed as a supermini.

It all gets very confusing.

2.4 kids? drat that is where I went wrong, went and got three full ones!

The new Octy has the same floorpan as the New Golf. The new Golf is slightly smaller than the new Focus.

Cars in all sectors are growing, internal space (apart from the boot) in the new Octy is similar to the the new Golf and new Focus.
