H&R lowering springs (noise)

Featured Replies

Hi guy's

I had a set of H & R lowering springs fitted to my car 2 weeks ago now and I have to say I'm disappointed with them. While the have the car sitting nicely in the road they seem to be as soft as the original springs if not softer. Also I get a rattling noise at low speed over small bumps. The company who fitted them are on to h & r at the mo to try find a solution. One thing they might be looking at is fitting a firmer spring from a shock and spring kit they do.

Had anyone else had issues with these springs in their diesel octavia? I don't think they are set up for the heavier weight of the diesel engine over the petrol rs....

cheers

I've got Eibach Pro Kit springs and Koni FSD's they lower the car just enough and have been working noise free and trouble free for the last 10K....slightly firmer springs than standard but that is offset by the FSD's giving a far more controlled ride......to recall using lowering springs on standard shocks is not a good idea, it leads to premature failure of the standard shocks.

I have this setup too and agree with above comments. I used eibach pro springs with standard dampers on a golf v5 in around 2003 and my brother still has the car on its original damperp. The pro springs are designed to also work with standard dampers.

Have just H&R springs fitted to mine and so far no probs....no noise, sits nice and def much stiffer than standard.

They checked the part number again to make sure they where for the heavier load. We both made the same observation with regard to how close the top coils where sitting to each other ( around 12mm) and that was when the car was jacked up with no weight on the springs! They must be just touching with the car siting on its own weight.

P.S these are the 35mm drop ones not the 50 mm ones.

Ahh i see :) Well you should get them sorted then...keith showed me a pic of your car after they were fitted. I take you have 18's on? Mine still sits quite high at the back but i guess theres no engine weight back there!!

I have 18's on mine. I love the ride hight but I think they are a little soft on the front when fitted to a diesel rs with the engine being heavier

Yep, just as I expected. Should have gone with them first, but then again the 4090s weren't available then!
