First Skoda Ordered Yesterday

Hi everyone,

After much deliberation, I've just ordered my first ever Skoda, the Superb Elegance Estate 1.8 TSI DSG.

Main options added, Silver Metalic Paint, Park Assist and MDI and a whole list of smaller accesories.

Other cars that i'd been considering were, another Golf GTI, Passat Esate, Volvo V50 or V60, Honda Accord Tourer.

The VAT free deal was the absolute deal maker and got me to order up this car 6 months earlier than expected.

12 weeks delivery is not too bad and gives me time to try and sell my old car privatly to beat the part exchange offer I was given.

Already counting down the days to comfortable motering and playing with the integrated electronics and toys.

Excellent choice. Love the Elegance spec. Makes you think you're sitting in a limo with the amount of luxury there is.

TSI DSG should mean you won't miss the poke of the GTI as well.

I'm hoping I wont be too disappointed with the speed of the 1.8 TSI as I wasn't able to test drive a petrol model.

The 140 TDI was OK, but that was all, whereas the 170 TDI had reasonable acceleration without loosing the comfort for either me or the passengers.

My 2012 Citigo ASG vehicle has developed a new fault. After a few hundred metres driving the engine suddenly revs high (then drops) and does not change gear. The amber (not red) cog warning light is displayed in the rev counter area. I read that this could be one of several issues that a OBD2 diagnostic check will reveal. My local independent garage that I use has said it would be safe to drive it to them to run the checks but they are eight miles away and I'm reluctant to do so. I could conta

Hi. I know there's a 'considering buying' forum but this is about an oldie so I thought this may be a better place to post...(a query for the long committed fans?)? I already have a 2005 Octavia Estate (1.9TDI PD105) and it is by a country mile the BEST car I have EVER owned. I bought it in 2013 for <£2.5k and apart from needing to do the clutch straight away it hasn't needed much over the 80k miles I've done in it since. I owned a 2017 Superb Mk III and recently swapped to a Mk IV and love the car apart from one very dangerous fault. Occasionally, the car decides I’m about to hit something and slams on the brakes - so hard, that you think you have hit something! It has happened several times whilst manoeuvering at low speed in reverse which is somewhat disquieting. But it has also recently done it whilst driving forwards - in no way on any occasion was there a risk of collision with either stationary or mobile
