Considering a Fabia Estate

Featured Replies

Hello - I'm a new member though a veteran Skoda owner (12 years, last one an 04 Octavia hatchback SE 1.9 TDI). The current one gives excellent service but my wife and I are considering getting a smaller model though of similar load capacity - a Fabia Estate. The specs of the Elegance or Scout versions seem to suit some of our needs. Has any owner any advice to give? The Octavia 1.6 deal looks tempting too but it does not have cruise control which we have found very useful on long continental drives.

We were considering changing to a petrol version because we will probably not do the mileage in future needed to keep the diesel particulate filter, fitted to the new diesels, functioning properly. Comments on this too would be appreciated.

Welcome to BriSkoda, you may get more responses by posting this in the Fabia forum.

I don't see the point of the Scout as it's a cosmetic exercise, it's not 4x4 like the Octavia version. Personal opinion of course.

The Elegance is nice and the Fabia Estate is a very practical little car. I have the economical Greenline version and it has got a very useful size boot.

Welcome!

The Fabia estate does have very good load space, and the 1.2 TSI engine is the one to go for if you aren't doing big miles. It's powerful, don't have to rev it hard, and it's capable of 50mpg. I went for it because I do mainly short trips and I felt it would cost no more to run that the diesel and it would have no DPF issues.

That 1.6 Octavia is an older engine that has much higher emissions and is rather thirsty. That said, it's currently 25% off and you could get cruise added to it....

My parents are about to get a 1.4TSI Octavia as their mileage doesn't justify a diesel any more.

Welcome to Briskoda.

I'm a Fabia Estate owner with the 1.4TDI engine and it's a practical car for what I need it for, I think you would be best to look at a Elegence model.
