Little Advice Please

Featured Replies

Hi All,

My 51 Fabia 1.9tdi Estate is rattling and knocking from the front (behind engine/floor bulkhead) and across the rear under seats.

I've searched and read and I'm thinking, console and wishbone bushes and ARB bushes?

I've got to do discs and pads soon, so I thought I'd do bushes also.

Just wondered if it's pretty likely its them. Getting on 170,000 on clock.

Thanks

Phil

Could be the console bushes on the front wishbone and the rear beam axle bushes as well by the sounds of things!! You replacing youself or garage job??? B)

Gonna try and do myself. Found a tool on ebay to help. And thinking of doing them all while I'm there. Plus discs and pads.

Will get a quote from local garage also, see how it adds up.

Thanks.

I believe rear beam bushes are a 6 hour job!!

Probs be easier to buy the front wishbones new with bushes already in as i believe the console bush is a pig to do

Rear beam bushes and front console bushes are a :swear::wall: to remove!!! Hacksaw, old screwdriver, etc!! New ones... right then.... I have a combination of Powerflex and Superpro on my car and I think that the best are as follows;

Rear beam axle bush

SuperPro = SPF2481K = This is a two "top hat" piece with a steel tube insert. This will be alot easier to install than the one piece (with stainless steel insert) from Powerflex, as you have to make up a puller for this one to pull it into the mounting!!

Front wishbone front bush

SuperPro = SPF3311K = This is a two "top hat" piece with a (thicker than Powerflex) steel tube insert.

Console bush

Powerflex = PFF85-602 easy to fit two piece design

Hope this helps B)

Thanks. Very helpful. It's just a Fabia Estate tho, would Cupra alternatives or solid (newer) skoda ones suffice.

I don't track it and it's not a VRS. Just commute, but quite a few miles.

to get the oem bushes in i think you'll require a proper heavy duty press...

thats why i went powerflex as it was easier to fit :)

Thanks Jase,

These are the little things that if you know save an awful lot of hassle. Power flex it is then.

Thanks again everyone. I'll attempt it shortly when I've measured discs and got all the parts, and report back.

Get the combo faddavrav got

Powerflex / superpro as my experience was on a lupo gti
