Again this is very cheap for the spec that is on it too! Have the prices plummeted on these in the last 6 months?!

Not especially, there are still some with less spec and more mileage for just under £10k. Although they are mostly trade.

Tbh I would have paid £8750 for the same car without sat nav, highline, sunroof and arm rest with ipod prep! B)

Doesn't mean I won't be haggling though! :p

Phewwwww, you had me worried!

You are right, it looks pants compared to the RNS 510, but to be fair it's an unexpected extra that wasn't on the 'wish list'.

Sorry about that. Just didn't double-check and strange that there's no VW branding or model name/number on the surround at all.

But as you say, it's nice to have as part of the package. I'd be most pleased with the sunroof though! But then I think I'm in the minority in still liking one :)

They drive very well out of the box. Should give the vRS a bit to think about through the twisties :D Suspension setup and steering feedback are excellent too.

I've had an ST TDCI and 100% agree that out the box the ST is way ahead of the vRS dynamically. Nice interior, boot makes the octavia's look small which is saying something. Great car, although tuning market is very limited for it. I wasn't a huge fan of the short ratio gears a/and diesel drive though, coming from a long line of petroleum.

My mondeo history includes mk1 1.8, mk2 2.0, mk1 ST24. Mk2 ST24, mk2 ST200, ST TDCI nnever had a single issue with any of them and i abused them all

When I sold my octavia I actually considered the ST220 but thought the engine was gutless. To used to torque of turbo'd cars now. If they released a 2.5T ST mondeo, I would 100% buy one, b

Do know what you mean about the gear ratios actually, thinking back to when I last drove one.

Ends up perhaps being a peakier power delivery than it needs to be, as when you think you're still in a nice power band from the engine, it's time to change up again emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Agree with the lack of branding etc, but I have looked at a score of them online and they are all the same.

I also love the idea of the sunroof, before the vRS I had a 307 sw with a panaramic roof, that is a feature I would love to have a again. Swmbo is well excited about the sunroof also, for me the best options are the highline display and arm rest.

I will be changing the headlights if we get it, and painting the grill surround gloss black to bring it in line with the newer spec' cars, or maybe a spot of carbon. ;) And of course a remap, GTi side skirts and rear bumper - colour coded! B)

Don't know why sunroofs aren't that popular any more. OK, so AC/climate is on pretty much everything now, but you can't beat some good fresh air coming in... plus a bit more light in the cabin emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Best of luck with this one; hope it works out.

Nice to see you've already got some plans ready too; always the sign of a serial car modifier :D

Forget that, have you seen the new link?

Looks very nice - Good luck.

Remember to look out for the following:

1) Cambelt

2) Water Pump

3) Clutch

4) Failed turbo bearings

All common issues, hope this helps.

Thanks for the heads up mate, I had heard similar things on the mkvgolfgti forum, iirc rev the engine then let it idle down, if it sounds like an owl being strangled walk away? It has only done 44k but I will probably look into a timing belt/water pump change immediately.

Then let the modding commence - without swmbo knowing!

I know - I noticed your thread on there. (Take a look, my GT is for sale on that forum also :giggle:)

Decided it was best to reply here so some Briskoda members could see common issues with these.

Just to fully convince myself it has a 'real' VW MFD2 I found a GT Tsi for sale, same year and a similar spec' the one we are seeing tomorrow and it has factory fit DVD Sat Nav.

I can confirm that I'm also fully committed to this opinion too :D

:p

Just touching on what Rob said earlier about potential issues, in hindsight with my PD140 and the turbo issues, I would certainly consider an extended warranty. The turbo specified is certainly a weaker point, on what is otherwise a particularly solid package.

If the turbo dies, what would be the rough cost of a replacement?

Trouble is, you don't really want to get to the stage of it dying completely. I was unlucky last time and the failure took out the cat, exhaust and intercooler with it emoticon-0114-dull.gif

Straightforward turbo-only replacement, with a stage-1 hybrid for example (useful for increased reliability alone, as much as performance increase) and I'd say £800-900 including labour.

You can have my total cost over PM, if you really want to drive the point home emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

I'll never be a profit of doom over these sorts of things, others mileage may vary etc etc - but I think people always need to be aware of the potential for things not running quite to plan emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Well??????????????

Indeed! Have you bought it yet then?

Honestly, you complain that there aren't any about, then when one does come up.... :D

GT drivers taking over on Briskoda?

Think that might take a while :D

Think that might take a while :D

 I think there are more Mazda owners on here at the moment.

Good news, awaiting the pic's
