Combi or estate?

Featured Replies

Having researched the superb combi / estate over the last few weeks before finally placing my order, I noticed that the superb is referred to either as a combi or an estate in fairly equal quantities.

This seems unusual as compared to other manufacturers.

So my question is, how do you refer to yours?

Estate  ...and occasionally a 'shooting break' :)

I'd not come across the phrase Combi before - mine is/will be an Estate ... as in Country Estate, perhpas we'll call it Norfolk

I think it depends on how your local dealer market the car as. In Taiwan, our local dealer market the car as Skoda Superb Combi 2.0 TDI and so we call it a combi in Taiwan, just like Avant in Audi and Variant in VW here as well.

KR,

:smirk:

Europeans (inc ireland) call it a Combi - the UK call it an Estate

But call it what you like... it's a crackin' car!

Al.

Mine is just "The Superb", but if questioned then I would say "estate"... I like the reference to "country estate" too :)

Should be called Gigantor, and the wifes Fabia should be known as Jed. :D

To me this body style is/has always been an estate (and this is how the UK literature refers to it) but you can get more information/pictures/videos on the internet if you search for combi.

To save the confusion, when mine gets here I might call it a Tourer!!

Given what mine will be used for, I think "Station Wagon" is the most appropriate name!

Na na na, that will confuse ppl, you need something much simpler like .... shooting brake. :D just weld the rear doors up for authenticity :giggle:

Frnt cover of the Skoda Catalogue 04/10 calls it a:

Skoda Superb Combi

with a nice picture.

No such confusion for those of us with twindoor..

If I'm talking to someone in 'the know' then it's a Combi, otherwise it's an Estate, no different to the likes of BMW (Touring) Audi (Avanti) etc.

I call mine Fred, and the model a Combi

Combi, or Kombi in Swedish ;-)
