Car Battery Size (Small Version for BLT engine)

Featured Replies

I've searched and searched... anyone know the size or code so I can find a suitable battery off the internet?

My battery (OEM) one is only holding 3 days charge, had to jump start it this morning after the bank holiday weekend! :(

I've read the big ones for ASZ engines won't fit...

I think a 075 battery group would fit...

I'll buy one and see!

They will, but you will need to discard the padded cover around your current battery. I fitted a Bosch Silver HSB096 battery to my wife's 2007 Fabia vRS. Not cheap but it does come with a 5 year guarantee.

The original battery size is 240x175x190mm.

I replaced the wifes 2006 fabia vrs with a Bosch S5 77Ah which measures 278x175x190mm.

The only issue is with the thermol wrap that goes around the sides of the original battery, it will require extending to fit the bigger battery.

I just drilled a couple of holes in either end and used plastic cable ties to pull the thermol wrap together.

Bill.

I was looking at the Odyssey Extreme batteries as a light weight and smaller alternative but not sure which would be suitable

Odyssey Extreme 25 can be had for around ££80

Any opinions anyone?

Cheers Simon

Replying to an old topic in case others read it.

I'd suggest that's not suitable for a diesel engine - although it has an excellent "680 amps cranking current for 5 seconds" it's only an 18Ah capacity. Bearing in mind the glowplugs can take 5 seconds to warm up you might get trouble? It's also MUCH smaller at 182mm X 77mm X 168mm

Check out this topic to see what I bought.

I put the large silver Bosch in my BLT vrs, it does fit. Got mine for £87 at eurocarparts, halfords wanted 130 for the same battery!

don't forget the forum discount :)

There'll be a code on your existing battery. What I've done previously is to take a photo of the battery to get any labelling info. Then use that online.

From what I can see it's either a 096 type or a 027 type. I'd guess the latter...

Can anybody advise on this battery being suitable for my 07 skoda Fabia vrs BLT engine.

Car was as dead as a dodo this morning, can't complain still on original battery.

Battery is a Banner uni bull 50 200 58AH

Dimensions are very similiar to the OEM battery and work use them, so may be able to get a bargain.

Any help appreciated, thanks Lee :)

I put a Bosch S5 096 on my BLT and it was excellent, fit perfectly on the original tray too.

It you check out my linked posting above you'll see what I did.

The original battery is a 61Ah - I went for a 64Ah Exide Premium Battery 027 - the battery redcupraboy is suggesting is only a 58Ah. The Uni Bull 50 300 is a closer physical size match and has an excellent 69Ah. I'd go for a higher Ah rather than a lower one.
