cheers dude, loved your wheels, what happened with the roof though?

The roof and drivers side wheelarch where in a 1st skim stage of filler on friday and as the guy at work that was doing it for me wasn't able to smooth it before the show i just decided to rattle can over it so i wasn't as obvious hence the rough filling and dodgy paint, need to get them done properley when i can and then sort out the bonnet and doors which are all dented too lol

ah no worrys lol

The cars had more hits than the beetles, don't think there's a single panel on it that i'm happy with but can't really afford a full respray :( but one day i'll get it sorted out,i hope

:o 2 pics of my car and it looks good!! Just need to sort the stone chips on the grill and polish the front mount asyou can't see it lol.

Was trying to catch you dsmithmobile and ask how you did the lights and where you got the rear vrs badge with turbo on it from? Oh and also how the hell did you manage not to rip the front bumper off coming it as all i heard was scraping as you drove in :giggle:

Notice you guys missed the black mk1 vrs estate that was parked round the otherside lol

Liked the white octy with the blue wheels till i saw the vw badges on it :dull:

Hi Raf,sorry I wasn't around to talk but I'll happily answer your questions.the headlights have been split and parts have been painted and also the lenses have had laminex tint film applied, there is a guide on briskoda somewhere that another member put together which will be helpful to you :) and the rear badge is just the standard one with a turbo sticker in porsche font stuck on,just measured the size I needed and had it made and was quite surprised my car held together driving through the show cos as you heard it was scraping badly lol,not the most practical venue for lowered cars haha. so was yours the black mk1 octy?

hi, mine was the white octavia with blue wheels :) the vw badges were just a joke between my friends and the just ended up stayin on. getting the tranformers badge's soon hopefully :) thank you for the pics of mine dsmithmobile.

How is yours so low?? my drive shafts catch on the chassis leg so i cant go any lower :( or is the vrs different underneath to the diesel??

ben

Bugger missed this!

Hi ben,as far as I know the diesel chassis is the same as the vrs but the suspension set up is different but in answer to the question of how mine is lower then the main problem of the chassis leg has been sorted with a notch, basically a hole saw has been used to cut a section out of the leg and then plated and welded up so the driveshaft now sits into an opening and also the helper springs have been removed from the coilovers and I have polo top mounts which are shallower but by been lower you bring the sump down a lot lower so this was solved by raising the engine 20mm through spacing blocks under the engine mounts or you can also buy a shallow sump instead :) hope that helps

Yup mine was the black octy with all the stone chips on the front and was half polished ran out of time and it was too dusty to do it there, ended up going to the Yanks meet in leeds with my m8 the night before, He had the red mustang convertible that was inside.

My car was never ment to be inside just happend that another m8 hadn't finished his car in time and the other one had no mot so he gave me his ticket to go with the modified addicts lol

ahhhh that explains it :) i was wanting to do the chassis leg hole but cant find any one willing to do it. and i cant weld.

do you have any pictures of work in progress of when you did it mate??

and its helped me out alot thanks you :)

have you always had the car aswell as i remember seeing it when it had the police look and with the green wheels. shaw ive seen it on big fat tour or at vw fest. i used to have the red mk4 polo van stupid loud thing haha. ben

Yes I've had it since 2003 and I've done lots of weird things to it over the years but I love it and can't see me getting rid of it to be honest :) and possibly remember your van,was the bootlid all smoothed where the window would of been?

Just noticed you asked a question on the previous page about the notch and don't think I've got any progress pics but there's pics of it done on the cardomain link in my sig or on my photobucket but I just got hold of a hole saw and drilled it myself whilst the strut was out then got a mate to pop down and weld it up for me then just painted it then undersealed it :)

yea it had the rear side windows and the boot window removed. had 8 12" subs in it. did big fat tour in it not last year the year before. and it had graffeti bonnet on it. when you raised the engine did you have to do anything else to it to make it work or just the spacers??

may beg them at work to cut and weld it for me :p work at a ford dealership tho so modifying aint really something they like to do haha

A bit loud then lol and obviously the notch has to be done if you raise the engine because the driveshaft rubbing issue will become greater and other than that the only problem I had was when I raised it was a metal pipe on the throttle body was hitting the bonnet which has dented it but I still havn't sorted that yet and trimmed the engine cover as it was hitting my strut brace but don't know much about your engine layout to help so make sure that the engine can be lifted without causing any problems shutting the bonnet or the downpipe hitting the floor, its up to you if you do it or not but obviously you'll have to accept reponsibilty for any problems you cause by doing the mods as people will no doubt say its not a good idea but I don't generally care what people think so if you do it,then good luck and be aware that been a bit lower will make your subframe hit the tarmac on slightly uneven or cambered roads
