How many miles have you got from "0 miles to empty"

Featured Replies

As the title says, how many miles have you got when your vrs fabia says 0 miles to empty? Provided you drive consistantly, as if you floor it and average 30mpg, and then drive slow geting 60mpg when it says 0 miles to empty it isnt a accurate reading..

Just curious to know how far it can be pushed.. I have done about 15 miles from car saying 0 miles left, know a guy who pushed 20!!

15 for me

39. Went to pick up a Fabia TDi some years ago and like a moron left my wallet, keys and phone in the car I came up in and the driver went off in it. Got into the Fabia and it had 40 miles where of fuel and the total journey was I think 79 miles. Some of the most tensest driving of my life! I often wonder how much further will it have gone. I have ran out before in a Superb 2.8 I can't even remember how far I got after 0 as I wasn't paying attention to fuel at all. My own fault!

I've done 30 miles+ on zero reading. Damn French autoroutes with their lack of filling stations! I ended up leaving Dunkerque with 20 miles to go, and filled up in damn Belgium! :giggle:

DON'T DO IT!

I once ran my range down to 0 miles briefly before filling up.

Then, about a week ago was driving to a party with a friend with 5 miles on the range and it ran out of fuel on a roundabout. My parents came with some fuel very quickly, but from the farm tank so not legal :(

Lesson learned!

Surely now if your car has run on some red (I'm assuming it's red?) If your tank ever gets dipped - there could be traces?

Also red diesel is unrefined to can f**k up your PD injectors.

got bout 25 miles one night...dont wanna chance it again though was 2.30am an couldn't a petrol station open so chanced me arm was a worried boy at the 20 mile mark lol i don't think a small amount of red would affect the car but will still be detected :( so much cheaper though :(

Isnt red exactly the same as white just with an additive colourant?

IIRC the only difference in red and white is that red has a dye added to it, I know with the diesel laundering that goes on over here (northern ireland) that your nearly better running red as you know its not been tampered with.. Running red is a very common thing and people dont seem to have any problems with running it!

In saying that I dont run red myself, as a £500 fine would not be nice lol..

Exactly right. I was running 100% red for a few days and could not tell any difference. It's now been diluted, hopefully it will eventually be undetectable.

I did 30 miles in my Leon past 0 range. Not through choice, I'd been out for a drive and done 100 odd miles of alternate cruising and country road blasts, was just on the way home and reached for my wallet which I shortly realised I'd left on my desk at home. Drove home sensibly down the A38/A52 with my arse clenched, picked up my wallet and went straight out to Tesco (nearest decent forecourt). Managed to squeeze just over 54.5 litres of diesel into a 55 litre tank so could have probably got a few more miles but not many...

65 Miles whilst on 0 miles left!

And that was with my bum cheeks so firmly together and driving like miss daisies eco friendly cousin!

Depends if you are using BS EN 590 red or red gas oil which can sometimes be sold, somewhat misleadingly, as 'red diesel'.

32 for me.
