new superb se plus trim

Featured Replies

hi, as some of you are aware, skoda have launched a new trim level, se plus.

looks like quite a good compromise between se and elegance trims to me.

however, on the available engines it has the 1.8tsi as 152ps as opposed to the 'normal' 160ps, i wonder why the change? and for such a small amount? you can still have the 160ps in other trims but the 152ps is only available in the 'se plus' trim.

will some bright spark please enlighten me as to why skoda would bother to do this?

thanks!!!

p.s now about half way through my wait for my 1.8tsi elegance twindoor, time is just creeping by!!!

SE Plus ?? :wonder:

Maybe this is why the configurator is down.

Any information on specification?

its on the skoda site now, it adds 4 spoke steering wheel with audio controls, electrically adjustable seats, sunset glass, mats, amundsen sat nav, mdi and gsmII telephone prep.

quite a nice upgrade.

Ah thanks, sounds good, AMundsen is same as the VW 315 colour nav/radio iirc, but sunset glass, (hate) however option to retain the Alcantara seats is a good point.

Though is it just me that finds the Skoda UK website contradictory.

eg the sliding boot partition system, text on front page says it's standard on SE & Elegance, yet when you look at details it is just on the Elegance and not SE or SE Plus. Yet the aluminium plates and sliding partition system is shown on SE Greenline. :wibble:

i totally agree about the uk skoda website, whilst it is a big improvement over the old one i think you need to do a lot of your own research as the uk site is in part not very clear and sometimes a little misleading, although i dont feel this is deliberate, just poor execution. i also feel it could do a lot more in terms of areas such as car colour ( how about real pictures for instance? )and interior shots ( 360degree pics perhaps? )

but maybe its just a really clever ploy to reinforce skoda's 'bargin' image???

Dont forget the new 2ltr 109 bhp CR engine, could be a good option over the 1.6 CR one that even though 105 BHP could be underpowered for the size of car

I guess the reduced power is to push the car into a better road tax bracket as the emissions will be lower, then the car can be targeted at different buyers.

Admitedly I havent had the car under full load (four inside, boot full and four bikes on roof) but so far the 1.6 CR doesnt feel underpowered. It is no rocket given the buk of the car, but it is perfectly competent on all the roads/situations I have been in since getting my Superb a couple of weks ago. INteresting to see if the extra 4 bHP in the 2l makes a difference. Presume the torque curve will be different, but at what penalty for CO2 and fuel consumption over 1.6CR?
