Interior light for the back seats

Featured Replies

Does anybody else find it a pain that there's no interior light in the back of the Fabia? Didn't pose a problem on my last car as it had a useless back seat that was too small for people to use anyway, but that's not the case with the Furby. Anybody suggest a subtle way or getting some light in there? Was thinking of maybe mounting a couple of white LEDs into the plastic trims and hooking them up to the interior light so that when the main lights come on, the back's lit up too. But this would probably involve drilling holes in the trim which I'd rather not do. Any other ideas?

I think the Elegance Estates have reading lights in the back. The nearest I can come to a part number is 3B0 947 291 B . Dunno how you would fit it to a hatchback's rooflining, though. Or how you would get power to it.

Yes, annoying with a black interior in the vRS as well.

I think the VW gold has interior lights in the grab handles, so would they fit? (someone on here has put the VW sunglasses holder in place of the handle in a Fabia)

How about a four foot blue neon down each side of the ceiling? :D

VW golf? Any idea which model / spec?

The sunglass holder does fit - I have it! Had to buy the grey one and paint it black though

Nah, give that a miss I think

Trying to avoid the uber-chav approach... I'd like to keep it as subtle as possible. I don't think wiring with be a problem as there are trims running right around the roofline of the car into which wires could easily be tucked. Just need a light that can be fitted unobtrusively...

If you have a light coloured roof lining, how about an uplighter from the rear of the console? Power from the ciggy lighter is right there for you - and the cup recess may make a good location.

All the estates have lights in the rear above the doors!

Should be a standard part number!

Nip into your local halfors buy some little spot neons, attach them under your seats, use velcro to attach them to the sill and bobs your uncle. You have mood floor lighting.

Checked a 'Y' reg Golf (the previous shape type, oh and not Gold as mistyped earlier!), the rear lights are a seperate little module on the ceiling lining next to the grab handles. :(

The Mk4 golf anniversary has rear lights in the black finish to match the vrs headlining. They are exactly the same as the one's in the elegance estate and are mounted next to the rear grab handle, just tap into the front light panel for juice and fit the lights.

Thinking abou this myself.

Octy L&K have them as well, same as the Golf ones. Don't seem to come on when you open the doors though, you have to do them manually.

Superb has them, nice ones too. Can be either door switch operated, or switched to constant.

Here's pics of ones in the back of mine - Its an Octavia but principles the same! (manual opperation... easily wired to main light for door opperation though)

Yeah there are a separete unit to the grab handle.

In the golf the rear courtesy lights have the same off/door/on setting as the front courtesy lights so you can chose when they come on. Mine work when you take the key out the ignition or open a door then fade to off with the front lights.

Something else I've noticed is that the Furby (not sure about Octy) sun visors don't have their own lights. Again both driver and passenger sun visors in the golf have a light that comes on when you slide the cover off the mirror section and then goes of when the cover is shut or the visor is folded up away.

Man us golf drivers must be blind or maybe we just want everyone to see how beautiful we are....
