u280 fault code

I got a U280 scanner today and it produced an engine fault code which isn't listed.

It is: DTC 04 00557 01/04

The car is: 1.6 8-valve petrol Octavia 1 (AKL engine)

Anyone have any idea? I have a problem with the engine temperature gauge, it works sometimes but erratic other times. Also intermitent engine hesitation and occasional rough running at tickover or when accelerating

You'll have a dodgy coolant temp sensor, which causes loads of engine problems. Very common problem on all VAG engines. Buy a genuine VAG CTS & that should sort the engine prob out.

DTC 00557 is a power steering pressure switch fault code.

We bought our Scala Monte Carlo Edition 1.5 tsi back in December and from late January it has had both mechanical problems and electronic gremlins. The mechanical problem have mostly been sorted, new rear discs and pads that were making noises like a wheel bearing was rumbling, the gearbox has had a software update and a reset (it's still not perfect). And the road noise is just the high dB tyres and lack of sound insulation. The electronic gremlins were put down to a failing 12v battery which

Correct Spark Plugs?

I have a 2022 Karoq 110PS which will need the spark plugs changing soon. I have looked at a couple of on line retailers but they quote different thread lengths for their plugs against my registration. These are 20.5mm, 26.5mm and 28mm. I don't want to fit the wrong plugs so am asking advice on which is the correct plug length for my car? I believe NGK plugs will have been fitted by Skoda originally so will be looking to stay with NGK if I can. Many thanks.

The fan for air conditioning and heater on my 2006 Octavia Mk2 L&K is not working. I have checked the fuses and they are OK. Does it have a relay that might have failed? I am hoping it is not the fan unit itself, as this seems to be peculiar to RHD models with climatronic and was discontinued by Skoda in 2022. (Part no. 1K2 820 021).

Is the skoda scala slave cylinder concentric and located inside the gearbox for all models, or is it just the 1.5 engine which doesn't have it on the outside of hte gearbox? I'm seeing different reports about whether the gearbox needs to be removed to check or replace it on a 1.0 litre engine.
