Recommended Online Showplate Suppliers

Featured Replies

Could anyone possibly recommend me an online showplate supplier they've had positive results from? I've had a set from one company that have only survived 6 washes. I could continue the back and forth with their CS dept. but even if they issue FOC replacements, they'll still be the same (poor) quality.

Thanks.

P.S. I did try the search function a couple of times...

What sort of thing are you looking to have on the plate? I have a good standard plate supplier that I've used for about 5 years without problem.

I agree though, quite a few of the 'showplate' lot seem to churn out fairly mediocre stuff and aren't particularly cheap either.

Standard plates, standard lettering, black outline, GB symbol / EU stars, no footer. Just spaced outside of the 'road use' guidelines! For when I'm at shows obviously...

Most of the plate suppliers (including Wardy's supplier) now use plates that the registration is laser printed onto the reflective background, this is then stuck onto the FRONT of the plate rather than the traditional way of BEHIND the clear acrylic.

Personally I am not a fan of the laser printed ones as I have had two sets that bubble up in the heat.

Thanks chaps,

Got some on the way from Craigs Plates. Ordered a pair, although it's only the rear that has distorted on the existing set.

Cheers.

I'll have to do a side-by-side comparison of a set of mine, against a dealer set - to see if I can notice a difference in manufacturer. And set I've had made up are still in fine condition after 5yrs for a couple of sets I've had done, and around 70k.

a bit late now but ive had a couple of sets from demonplates and had no problems at all with them!

Do those places offer steel pressed plates? I find the halfords ones (plastic) go quite pale after a short while.
