Cruise control retro-fit

Featured Replies

Hey guys.

Have a 2008 Octavia 2.o tdi,6 speed, 140 bhp...engine code BKD

Was wondering if you can retro fit cruise control? And if so what is needed to do it? (Besides the cruise control stalk!!)

Yes it's possible, on yours more thn likely the stalk and coding. Some require a different a steering column control unit but prob not on yours

There are many oracles on the subject here, quite a few have had a retro fit cruise control installed. Many people on here swear by Ben at shark performance, seems he has a good reputation on here and would be worth getting in touch with if you are within striking distance of Mansfield.

OP lists location as Kildare, Ireland, so Mansfield may not be ideal!

When I was looking to do this I found plenty of kits on eBay, any competent garage should be able to fit and code it.

Edit to add: Cruise Kit

I have fitted cruise control to my FL octavia '09...No extra wiring was needed only replacing the stalk and coding via VCDS (engine and steering wheel)It's a fairly straight forward job !!Bought it off the bay from vwteesside...! Highly recommended ...!HTH

The airbag needs to come off, as does the steering wheel, Trim, slip ring, steering controller

I did this and it was pretty easy. Took like 40mins to do. Although spent like 3 hours trying to get rid of the traction like and steering light. Drove off my drive and lights went out. So if you do this mod and you get lots of lights on dash go for a drive.

agreed with comment above, just drive a lil, i got my stalk from ebay for a golf and cost me £25, then got it fitted for £10 and skoda installed the coding for £35

Cruise control for £70 happy days

You get those lights from just disconnecting the battery. As you (eventually) found out, nothing to worry about. :)

Mentions this somewhere deep in the manual.

Where are you rs-Alan? I live in the South (Bournemouth way) & have the tools, & VAGCOM, I've done them before, happy to help you out for free if you're by me, we'll have it done & coded within an hour.
