Problem with alarm

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am hoping someone can assist me here.

I have an Octavia II (1Z) 2005 and yesterday at work my alarm went off so I popped out to check it out and pressed the button on the inside B piller to disable the internal sensors as I have had problems with flies setting it off in the past.

Anyway, last night the alarm went off again but this time when I went out to disable it I found that it would not disable. I unlocked door with remote fob, I started engine and it was still sounding. Nothing would stop it for about 20 mins then all of a sudden it stopped.

I scanned it with VCDS today and got the following,

Address 46: Central Conv. Labels: 1K0-959-433-MIN.clb

Part No: 1K0 959 433 T

Component: 01 KSG 0560

Shop #: WSC 00000

Component: Sounder No Answer

Component: NGS n.mounted

1 Fault Found:

01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)

004 - No Signal/Communication

I have looked on the net and from what I have read this is a common problem with the H12 alarm as it has an internal battery. Is this true for me and if so could someone please tell me

1) how easy is it to replace this H12 alarm

2) where exactly is it located and how do I get at it

3) does the replacement need coding

Thanks for your help in advance

John

Looking at an older scan when it worked I got

** Bump **

I know I only posted last night however I really could do with someone to advise where this H12 alarm is located and how do I get to it.

From what I have read elsewhere its pointing to Part No: 1K0 951 605 A Component: LIN BACKUP HORN H01 1201 that may be the problem.

OK, Just called a dealer who said that it is behind the drivers wheel arch liner however it is protected by snap bolts ?? so the housing cannot be removed. Is this true?

John

Before you go delving into the wheel arch and pulling apart snap bolts, check the carpet around the passenger footwell. Daft as that may sound, a chap at work is having a similar sounding problem with his VW Passat. It seems that if the drains at the front of the windscreen get blocked, water can find it's way into the car and start to rust the convenience unit under the dashboard, rusty contacts equals bad connection equals no communication with the alarm sounder.

Thanks,

I removed the cover under the passenger footwell where the pollen filter is. everything is dry. Cant see the comfort module so will look under the dash on drivers side in morning. All vents are clear though and carpet is bone dry.

The passat problem relates to the older B5.5 & Skoda superb mk1

The H12 is as the dealer pointed out in the drivers side inner whhel arch. You will need to drill out the rivets and replace them with new ones.

It shouldn't need coding

Thanks Eddie.

Is it worth taking the glovebox out and checking the cables behind it then the liners on drivers side to check the comfort module wiring or do I just go straight to the H12?

John

Hi I also need to replace my alarm horn - was it easy? how much was the part and which part number did you use?

Thanks

Stupid question but if the alarm was sounding then how was it the horn? Mine isn't sounding at all (just getting flashing lights if activated), dealer mentioned the horn needs replacing. Is it expensive and much hassle to get to?
