Evening all, I bought a demonstrator Fabia VRS last week and unfortunatley it had no optional extras. If I wanted to get these fitted myself could I? would the skoda dealership fit the Amundsen sat nav and bluetooth and link it to the maxidot display? Has anyone fitted any "extras" on since picking theirs up?

Cheers Jordo B)

Looks to be a shortage of Sat Navs and appears they are only reserved for current orders and they're not taking any new orders on them =/

Doesnt have to be Amundsem anything really... :wonder:

If you are not too bothered about sat nav keep your eye out on ebay for the Bolero 6.5" touch screen, 6CD player. Works great with the MDI and multidot display.

Plenty of genuine VAG bluetooth kits on ebay too.

VAG do a VAG dealer only fitted system for about £1000 that includes a quite nice looking satnav/entertainment system and it also has bluetooth included.

Can't remember the name of it now, but your dealer will know...

Cheers for the help all!!! B)

Be aware the kenwood does not have a rear USB input so your ipod, hard drive or memory stick etc has to be plugged into the front of the unit. Means everytime you get in and out the car you have to unplug it to hide it then replug it up again. The socket is on the right hand side to so you keep catching the USB lead with your hand when you are using the head unit. Looks untidy too.

I dismissed it straight away because of these issues.

Hi lee, what did you go with then? :wonder:

Hi lee, what did you go with then? :wonder:

I ordered my Passat with the RCD310 (Swing) with MDI as I use an ipod classic 120gb in the car and use tomtom live for navigation and find the HD Traffic system great.

So I wasn't bothered about Sat Nav and as I don't use CD's I didn't think I needed the RCD510 (Bolero)

But soon after I got the Passat I became frustrated with the RCD310 (swing) and the MDI as it's a pain to find tracks and albums when you have 80gig of music and only one line of text that you have to scroll through one at a time.

I then tried a Golf with RCD510 (Bolero) and MDI and couldn't believe the difference in useability, the big touch screen and scroll bars make finding tracks, artists and playlist easy with just a few strokes of the finger.

So I got myself an RCD510 (Bolero) and changed it myself. Wish I'd specced it new now. If tomtom HD Traffic wasn't so good I may have gone for the RNS510 (Columbus).

I tried the Kenwood unit in a Touran but it only took 5 minutes to rule it out.

So when we specced the Fabia I knew Swing and MDI were not great but the Bolero is not an option. As it's not my main car I decided on the Amundsen although I haven't tried one with MDI but expect the 5" touch screen will be better than the Swing.

If I go to work in the Fabia or on a bit of drive in the Fabia I'll still use the tomtom instead of the Amundsen.

Cheers

Lee
