Very true, id rather have the missus sitting next to me with a bottle of pepsi

depend's what your missus is doing with that bottle?

Depends what size bottle

An atmospheric dump valve is not efficent where as a recirculating one is the way to go. The Atmospheric one doesn't keep the turbo spinning which is not good if you are driving Briskly where as the recirculating one dumps the air back into the system which keeps the turbo going so you get alot less lag :D

doesn't the recirc one dump out the pressure into the airbox?

Plus Atmos ones sound chavvy ;)

Chris

you should hear a recirc one with a carbonino IK! Sounds louder than a Atmos one! :D

But, you do enjoy a spot of overfuelling and a nice rally-stylee flame-out!!! :D

Yep.

To start with, for Petrol Turbo's a DV protects the turbo it is not a performance enhancing part.

An atmo DV dumps to atmosphere a recirculating DV dumps the pressure back through the airbox so is silenced. If you have one of each set at the same pressure there won't be any difference.

The issue with atmo DV's when fitted to replace a recirc DV is fueling.

When a atmo DV dumps it's air it allows air to keep flowing through the intake and obviously the MAF picks up this airflow. The ECU tries to fuel this airflow which can result in flameouts etc. It can also result in an engine management light because the lambda sensor will pick up the unburnt combustion products. Neat petrol through the exhaust will also destroy the cat.

True high peformance and motorsport petrol turbo cars will not run a DV at all, dumping your boost pressure is just what you don't want to do for maximum performance.

As for fitting one to a Turbo Diesel?

I will be one of those laughing my head off.

Cheers

Lee

It's also worth bearing in mind that only a very tiny minority of people think it is cool, to most folks it is completely naff. It's a bit like driving around with your front fog lights on, you need to remember that everyone else is thinking of coffee grinds. When you realise that, it kinda takes the edge off it.

Coffee grinds?... oh i get it lol.
