Dumb Question.....Where is the Recirc Valve/ how to tell if remapped

Featured Replies

Hi,

New to Octavia/VAG 1.8T engine. Had a look on web for pics on where to find the Recirc valve, had a look on engine but cant seem to find it.... where is it located? as looking at replacing standard Bosch one for a Forge one.

Can anyone shed some light on it please?

Also how can I tell if it's been chipped/remapped?

Cheers,

Dave

cheers,

Spotted that straight after.

Erm, if it lights the tyres up in 2nd in the dry, that should mean its been remapped ;)

Or via a boost gauge is another option.

Ok. is that with ASR on or Off?

as in wet last night it lit up till 3rd, and earlier in dry partly in 2nd. So if remapped, what speed should it do in 2nd and 3rd before change up?

speed in gears won't change as the rev limiter and gear ratios should still be the same. Hook up a boost gauge to find out, as whether it wheel spins in 3rd won't really tell you.

Cool,

What is PSI/Bar for normal boost and same for remap?

Possibly going with no remap as cant believe someone would remap and not change recirc valve, its standard one.

but thanks for help eveyone.

Dave

9-10 psi is the standard boost.

HTH :D

Standard one worked fine for me for a number of years. I simply swapped out in case the original failed. Its not a requirement as such.

No need to upgrade the DV as the stock DV is the same as fitted to the 225bhp TT's & Cupra R's. The stock DV is just prone to failing eventually.

There's a load of BS spread around about having to put a Forge 007p etc on remapped 1.8T's.
