Rear windscreen wiper

Featured Replies

Sorry this is my first post so apologies if it's in the wrong place. My rear winscreen wiper gave up yesterday mid swipe on my Octavia II estate (2005) it just stopped. I've checked the fuse and it's ok. Has anyone got any suggestions? Could it be a loose lead? If so how do I go about removing the back door cover? My MOT was booked tomorrow!

I think there is a description of how to take the rear panel off somewhere on this site and a search may bring it up. If I come across it, I'll post the link.

Found the following description that I saved from this site some time ago. I think it's for a hatch, but the estate is probably similar...........

Rear Bootlid Cover Removal

Removal

Start by unscrewing torx screw located in the hole behind rubber handle used to close boot.

Then start prising off the cover around the Boot lock. And work your way around either side until you get to the bottom of window. Take note of all the red arrows shown in the photo below for location of snap on fittings. This will mean you can get close to the fitting and will reduce chances of breaking it.

When you get to the ones closest to the window, you need to move the whole panel in the direction of the window. Probably best getting a 2nd person to help.

Installation

I found pushing in the 2 clips at the bootlock first was easiest,

Then locate the ones at the window. I didn't push them fully in.

Push in the other ones on the vertical part of the bootlid.

Then push the others home.

Thanks - will give it a try and let you know what happens !

I had the same issue 2 weeks ago. It probably needs a new motor as I was told it's quite a common failure :wonder:

Yeah, that, replaced the one in SWMBO's 2004 mk5 Golf last month and now my Octy 2005 hatchback rear wiper motor has gone the same way just as it's coming due for an MOT :(

If you just remove the whole wiper arm by unbolting it it will pass the MOT it only comes under it if its there
