Favorit Spongy Brakes

Featured Replies

Hi me again... My Favorit 1991 has got pretty spongy brakes.. I have checked all the pipes and pads/shoes and all are good, and the fluid is a nice clear colour. If i slam on the anchors i will lock the wheels so they work, but u need to press really hard for them to bite...

Is this how it should be? or anything specific i can check?

Just in case people where watching this and waiting, i found out the what the problem was today!

I noticed a faint hissing noise coming from near the master cylinder when switching the motor off with the bonnet open. On closer inspection i found the thick vacuum pipe from the brake servo to the inlet manifold was split really bad and when i wiggled it to see, it simply gave way and split totally! So i have replaced this pipe and now there is no hissing sound and the brakes have MUCH more bite and feel to them. Also now a vacuum leak to the engine has been fixed it seems to idle a bit smoother and pick up better! so all in all a great result!
