Oil

Featured Replies

Going to be doing engine oil and filter the weekend on the VRS.

Am I right in thinking 5/30 oil

Also how much oil do they need please.

Think it's 4.5 litres fully synthetic 504.00 rated. I always get my oil from skoda, including filter and sump plug it's under £30 and i know the right stuff is used.

You want 5w40 or 5w30. Also make sure it is fully synthetic and complies with VW standard VW502.00 or VW504.00.

Best stuff to use, like RAF said, is the stuff form the dealer. It's called quantum and is around 25 quid a can.

ASDA are selling Castrol edge 5w-30 Vag spec 504.00/507.00 for £30.00 [4ltr] at the moment .

Castrol magnatec fully synthetic 4L 5/30 £23 at halfords down from £30+ just got mine few days ago.

I went to VW as they were cheaper than Skoda, all sorted I went for Quantum Platinum oil in the end.

So thanks all for the advice.

How come if you're not on long life servicing, Skoda main dealers use 10w40 instead?

My local VW specialist also uses 10w/40 so have used this myself so long as it still meets the required spec. Not sure why Skoda adopts a different oil viscoscity though for different types of service?
