BIG VRS FUN in Bonnie Scotland!

Featured Replies

We have just got back from a short break in Scotland and covered just under 1000 miles. 600-ish motorway and 400-ish open roads.

I wouldn’t class the VRS as the ideal motorway car, I do get fed up hearing the Dunlops drowning out the tunes, however I didn’t buy it for the motorway.

But boy has it put a smile on our faces on the open and twisty roads of bonnie Scotland!

We have taken a stack of different cars up there, faster/slower/diesel/petrol/autos/4wd road cars(not Chelsea farm trucks!). This one has quite simply been the most fun and outstandingly effective.

Seamless power, effortlessly bouncing up mountain passes like they weren’t even hills, totally confident overtaking ability.

Although I do like to take over cog-swapping occasionally, if I am brutally honest most of the time there’s no real need now the gearbox and me have learned each others styles. An exception is overtaking where it pays to be in the right gear and anticipate (like you would in a manual), or (easier) to be in sport.

50mpg tootling about, 40mpg open road fun, 35mpg motorway at my speed, 45mpg motorway at SWMBO’s speed. I did the majority of the driving so no surprises at 39mpg overall.

Look out Scotland, Casper (SWMBO named it!) will return soon.

Sounds amazing........considering I live here! WHEEY! :D Just another day on the road for me, I don't really notice :( ... Wish it felt that exciting for me! haha!

As above sounds amazing mate.

I lifted my car in england and drove back home (northern ireland) scottish roads were awesome :)

Firstly, great post. Glad you are enjoying the car.

Secondly I have the Continental Tyres on my vRS and did a lake district trip just before easter (800 miles total) and didnt find the motorway noise that bad. Sorry the the Dunlops appear noisy.
