Wish me luck - going in at 10.30 this morning. Smoke/emissions always seems to be the hard one for the old girl to get through. Not sure what the tester will think of my elephant mod, I might look out the original pipe and have that to hand incase he gets a bit stroppy.

I forgot about my elephant mod and luckily the tester didn't notice the pipe sticking out beneath the engine - I put a shot of BG244 in the fuel tank about 3 weeks before the mot, seemed to help as it passed no problem

My pipe runs front to back (just about), and the tester leaves the engine idling when up on the ramps (I guess to make sure it is warm) so he might get rather a face full of smoke.... I forgot to adding anything to the tank. I'll just do it chavvy-style off a roundabout on the way there Limp-home mode might kick in too (which could help the smoke test )

Indeed, and nice to be shown any issues rather than just get a piece of paper. He also told me the EGR must be fitted to the car (which is it), but it does not have to be operational (which it isn't). Also a handy tip for vrs estate owners with the failed led high-level brake light - if it is permanently disconnected (ie. wire cut off to not easy to reconnect back up straight after the tested), then that is fine.
