Holy smeg the o-rings are expensive for what they are!!

They retail at £3.31+vat each. Thank christ I get a fat discount! The injector retaining clips were 52p, so got 4 of those too.

Spending over £20 on o-rings will be worth it to see the back of the leakyness though........

Top and bottom o-rings are identical by the way, and I got all 8.

I used engine oil.

Whatever you do, don't use silicone spray, as it can supposedly damage lambda sensors. Anyone remember the tesco fuel contamination?

Cheers for the heads up on that, as I didn't know about the silicone thing! Just been googling it....

I would of slapped loads of silicone lube on it before, but know I see the best thing is to use a small amount of clean engine oil on the rings.

It's an easy to job to do. Just be careful with the fuel rail bolts as on of mine was corssed when I took it out and snapped when I tried to screw it back in. Doh!! Had to drill the hole out and re-tap it.

Still not leaking though.

Hehe, it's nearly got the same number of views as the vRS buying guide, so it must be doing OK. That, and Google now knows about it. B)

Done it!

Didn't remove the rail, as part of the loom passes through it, and I could do it just fine without removing it. I unplugged the two fuel hoses from the junction box behind the coolant reservoir, to give me more room to move the rail about. The injector seats in the manifold were filthy and covered in salt and grit! I had to very carefully clean them out with some kitchen towel soaked in WD40 to try and get the crap to stick to the towel while carefully wiping them. Eventually cleaned up the seats without dropping any crud in the manifold though. The seats in the rail were spotless.

Removed and externally cleaned all four injectors. Top o-rings just slip off, bottom ones are a bit tight to get on and off. One thing I did notice was that a lot of crud had got caught around the lower rings, and the metal body of the injector had become pitted where the rings sit. Anyway, dabbed a bit of petroleum jelly on the rings and slipped them on, then popped the injectors back in the rail with the new clips. Carefully slid the whole lot back into the manifold and jobs a goodun'!

That should mark the end of the leaking....

Mine were badly pitted around the bottom too, but still don't leak. I cleaned them off with carb cleaner.
