I now own a baby trailer for camping

Featured Replies

With a trip coming up where we will be four in the car and my camping having turned more into glamping more space was required... And since my car has a towbar I decided to get a trailer. A baby one for now as that is all the budget allows but we'll see. Picked it up yesterday.

£220 from eBay with jockey, brand new spare wheel, ladder rack, high side framework and tarpaulin. The trailer itself is 342 litres, so I guess the high sides adds another 350 litres or so of square easy to pack space! I thought it would be very jittery behind the car empty but it behaved itself impeccably and having the ladder rack and higher tarpaulin I could at least see it in the rearview mirror!

If this works I'll save for a REAL trailer of a decent size at some point! Like an Erde 142/Daxara 147 or something. But to spend £500 to get something like this one just for one extra foot of space in length was a bit much to ask just yet!

Can't really go wrong at that price, J. Enjoy it!

Have you tried going backward with it yet... :) :) :)

I'm sure you'll have gathered it's easier to back up a 30 foot artic than one of these. I suspect most owners of this size un-hitch it and 'man-handle' it... (or to be correct - 'person-handle' it).

Maybe find a decent wheel or hitch lock for it, so as not to risk losing it. The Ifor Williams trailers are prey to a EDITED by myself to ameliorate the upset caused to a fellow member.

Or look on Ebay for a 330 Abloy padlock (340/342 or even 360/362 for even more security)... they can't open them. Plus, get a chain (from 'Toolstation' in Bow) and you'll stand a better chance of keeping it.

I suppose this is an appropriate time to use +1

One of my friends posted on Facebook: "I'll bet your clever self-parking system doesn't work with the wheelbarrow on the back, does it? ;-)" Hehehe... and he is an Octavia driving Briskoda member too. But yes I have gone backwards as you can see that picture is taken in a corner of a car park! But it is so light that you can in fact manhandle it easier than trying to manoeuvre it around!

This hitch lock got five stars in the AutoExpress test so I'm trying to get one of these:

So the one to get:

Oh and in a lottery win after-life the ONLY trailer to have is an Ifor! I would LOVE one!

Johann,

those Bulldog locks are good, but a bit fiddly to put on.

But hopefully fiddly for a thief too!!!!

Not yet... I was hoping to get one fitted when the car goes in to sort the towbar software. And since the car has to specially go back for said software I was hoping the hook will be "thrown in"! Time will tell.:giggle:

James has just ordered some more, so it might be worth a phone call anyway. Man of your calibre should be able to fit it! :giggle:

:giggle: Bless. Oh I can fit it for sure. But I thought it a good gesture of goodwill perhaps!

Security with a trailer that size? Whip a wheel off - Simples. I chuck mine in the boot.

I had one of these a few years ago, excellent quality.http://www.brenderup.co.uk/

Maybe find a decent wheel or hitch lock for it, so as not to risk losing it. The Ifor Williams trailers are prey to a certain group within our society who prefer to utilise pre-owned goods rather than trouble to buy new from approved suppliers......as it were

That's quite a clever way around the swear filter, but probably not best for those amongst us with enough mental agility to know what you really meant! ;)
