26 Weeks and 6 Days Later

Featured Replies

Well the day finally dawned, there I was minding my own business unloading the dishwasher, it was 0855Hrs when the "Cottage Down The Lane Neighbour" knocked on the door to say that there was a truck with a "White Car" on it driving slowly past the end of our Lane. I bravely suppressed the mad urge to scream Whooopeee! and after thanking her, swiftly slipped into my best plastic gardening clogs, ran down the drive and skidded to an extremely excited halt as the delivery truck pulled up. It had finally arrived, 26 Weeks and 6 Days after I ordered it. The driver unloaded it and I give it a very thorough inspection, everything was present and correct, there were no faults or blemishes and the speedo was reading a never to be repeated 5.4 miles! Any thoughts about selling it for quick profit soon evaporated, what a fantastic car and well worth the wait, early November 2010 seemed such a long time ago.

Now the frustrating thing was, I had to wait in for the Stoves repair man and could not take it for a spin until 5.00pm! Due to pressure from her indoors she would only allow me a measly 2 mile trip, I wanted to drop the seats and kip in it for the night but she would not let me! Fortunately we had planned a weekend trip to the Llyn Peninsular, we picked the "Stroppy One" up from high school on Friday afternoon and set off on our voyage of discovery. After my previous car, a Mini Cooper S Clubman,I found the ride was fantastic and the handling a revelation considering the high chassis height and boxy design. The boot space, after the Mini, was more than adequate, I admit to being a little worried after reading various posts about the size of the boot when the spare wheel option had been ordered, fortunately the storage boxes that surround the wheel and the space beneath compensate in part for the reduction in volume. The fuel consumption was also a pleasant surprise, with only a few miles on the clock I was pleased to get 45.1 mpg on the outward journey and 48.3 mpg on the return, using the same route through Bala and over the mountains towards Porthmadog. Being Wales, the weather gave the wipers on the auto rain sensor a good workout they were fantastic, I have left a window open and am waiting for it to rain again to see if it shuts automatically! (Sad) Need to try the cornering xenons next.

Photos soon.

Congratulations. Yetigain ( :) ) the mpg figures you quote for a 170 raise my expectations. Enjoy your car. I collect mine on Thursday.

Oooo....we've ordered ours from the same person. :) 3 months gone, 3 more months to wait. :( Did the company contact you when they had received a confirmed build date?

Sara. :)

Enjoy your new Yetis!

170 economy - drive it quickly and you can expect 40mpg overall (genuine not Maxidot) - keep it at 70 or below on the motorway and you may see a little more!

Despite its 'brick' shape, it's only marginally more thirsty than my previous Golf GT 170, but infinitely more practical and pound for pound incredible value for money - another Golf with the Yeti equipment would be the wrong side of £30k

If I drive like Miss Daisy high 50's are possible - but where's the fun in that?

Approaching 3k now and no oil needed.

Still infatuated!

Enjoy your new Yetis!

Thanks for your best wishes - I know we will enjoy. Two weeks after collection we will be taking our 500 mile annual trip to the Isle of Mull. I drive up to speed limits (where possible) and two years ago in our 10 year old Octavia 1.9TDI (90hp)I returned a measured 63mpg for the round trip. Last year in our Fabia 3 1.9TDI (105hp) with identical driving conditions we got 53mpg (Fabia is a bit brick shaped as well). Will be interesting to see how this years Yeti-170 mpg compares, though the engine may be somewhat tight.

You sound just like me, mind you I have just started my 2nd retirement. Boredom is just a frame of mind, so the better half says, that is why she leaves me a great big list of jobs to do every day! I washed it for the first time yesterday, had to stand on the cill to reach the middle of the roof. Went to pick son and heir up from town today, 30 mile round trip managed to get it to 50.1 mpg. I also topped it back up again it took exactly 30 Litres, interestingly I converted this to gallons, divided it into the mileage since the last (Initial) top up and it worked out to 44.33 mpg, I then checked this against the overall average fuel consumption in Memory 2 which showed exactly 44 mpg. It would therefore appear that the Maxidot computer is reasonably accurate.

Hi Sara,

I realised that due to the sheer volume of sales it is sometimes difficult, if not impossible, to constantly update each individual customer on the status of their order. I rang Darren at Carquake after about 4 months for an update, he provided me with the current information and we arranged for a further update 4 - 6 weeks later. I was given a date into the dealer of the 6th May, this was accurate and it was delivered to me on the 11th May.

I have found Carquake to be exceptionally good to deal with and will certainly use them agin!
