My friendly local dealership said that they are as much in the dark as we are....

Skoda II VRS MUST NOT cost more than the Gold V GTi. Otherwise, what would be the point??

Just picked up the Fabia Vrs from having 1st service, whilst there thought i would ask the sales manager if he had any info etc on the new Octavia Vrs, when due, how much, engine options etc. .

To my surprise he advised the following; Officialy not due until early 2006, BUT dealers can expect as early as Sept 2005.

The car will be offered with 2 engine options, Petrol OR Diesel !!!!.[interesting}.

Regarding price he had not heared anything official at present.

THE PLOT THICKENS

heard that before, not too convinced, but we will see i guess

Well

Even if there is an Octy sport, it couldnt be any more pitiful than the Fabia sport.

Saw a red 1 @ my local dealer, wot a waste of time, effort & money, it looks like an after thought to push sales. My opinion anyway.

Had a chat with my dealer about the rumoured 4x4 Fabia, but thats another story.

He re-iterated a conversation that we had late last year. The new Octavia vRS will be available from December 05, and he suspects that orders will be taken from September time.

Was moaning to me that he has been at several meetings with senior Skoda UK guys who have boasted that they have driven the car and that it is even better than the new GTI. But, they will not release any information to him, even off the record.

As he rightfully says, it is ridiculous that Skoda won't share this info, as vRS drivers have played a significant role in turning around the perception of the brand, as well as wanting to atay loyal.

But, a lot of customers are already drifting away because of the lack of information. I could be one of them, Megane 225 or Civic now, or wait 6 months and maybe be drooling over the new Octavia. Maybe.

Get your act togehter Skoda. Because ultimately, you may find that none of us really care that much.

You could tell it anyway :)

Re: Octavia II RS, for sure it would be nice to know what it's gonna be like, but all the secrecy kind of keeps the suspense up. Skoda have always been a secretive brand.

I'd say look before you leap. I didn't like the Civic Type-R. Too revvy and appalling traction. And if the Megane 225 is anything like my sisters 1.5 dCi "Dynamique" then it'll fall apart in no time at all.

Why not wait 6 months and see what happens? That's certainly what I intend to do.
