"Safe locking - Check owners manual"

It has been stated at least 3 times:

^^ agree, but it would be nice if you could turn it off, as it's not the most clear of messages as it's not clear whether it's telling you it's been activated, or hasn't.

And now the tricky part, why does not the message come on every time? I really don't get it...

When you say you have locking and unlocking set to auto, do you mean it's set so that it locks when you drive off and unlocks when you remove the key? That's how I've got mine set. I also have it set to unlock all doors at once.

I to have the message on my 11 plate how did you set yours to do the auto locking when driving off?

Not sure this can be done with the maxidot alone, you need someone with VCDS, I have this depending where in Kent you are.

I was trying to find it last night on a friends vagcom but everytime we thought we had done it it didnt work

Was it a genuine lead you were using?

Yes as my mate works at a VAG specialist

I have not activated this on my Superb (as I personally do not drive in places where it is needed very often) but he box to tick is something like: "doors lock after 15kph", you will also need to tick the box that says something like:"unlock when key is removed"as well otherwise you will need to pull the door handle twice to open the door.

I'm 99% sure thats what we tried but will have to check again

I'm fairly sure that I managed to engage auto-lock through the MaxiDot since I do not have access to VCDS. My conclusion about the origin of this thread is that the message is a warning to the driver that anyone left in the car after a "singel-lock" (most common?) will be trapped in the car until the driver lets them out. A hot summer day this can very quickly emerge to a life threatening situation.

At the risk og going off topic

"Once press of the lock button puts the car automatically in the deadlocked position meaning you can't open the doors from the inside"

Does this mean that if you press the lock button after the car has locked to fold in the wing mirrors as the manual instructs,

You will disable the deadlock.

No, providing you only press the button once the deadlocks will still go on.

I have a 2017 Fabia and it displays this message, the manual explains ...

"SafeLock prevents the doors from behind opened form inside as well as window operation. This makes an attempted break-in to the vehicle more difficult. The function is pointed out by the following message on the display of the instrument cluster after the ignition is turned off. check SAFELOCK! owners manual!'

its on page 57 of the latest manual

Six years nearly, and this thread gets a bump...
