getting stupidly excited like a kid at christmas :D

how long do you think it will take to stop "going" for the clutch when you want to change gear / come to a junction etc....I know I had that problem on the test drive

Agreed,

Id love to get it that weekend then i can do some running in :D

with the clutch, i was pretty good on the test although i did go for it when i had to brake quick due to an idiot lane changer!

One thing I found on my test drive were that the paddles are quite close to the column stalks. I went to drop a couple of cogs coming off a roundabout to go past someone, nothing happened.....quickly realised I was flashing the car in front haha

slightly OT - but have been reading that some of the peeps on here are getting the 3 years free servicing deal as they are getting the car thru Skoda finnance / solutions.....are you getting the same deal Ash?

Not a peep from my dealers about it, but I am tempted to ask when i go collect the car, if not before!

When getting into an auto from a manual rather than resting my left foot in its usual position next to the clutch pedal I initially place my left leg under my right leg with my foot tight against the seat front. This means you have to think about moving it rather than it being an automatic response to slowing, accelerating, engine note etc. after a while I am used to it and can move it back to it's normal position. At this point the fun can begin as you start left foot braking.

sounds like a plan

Before I took one on the demo the saleman said "NO left foor braking" and was not reassured when I said I do it all the while on GT5 with a steering wheel

same as you...

not a peep but i will be asking when i pick it up. or i may give them a ring in a few days. someone I know is also getting the 3 years free servicing. not sure how lucky we will be about getting it. looking at 500 quids worth of free servicing.

just put a new thread asking if anyone knows any more - fingers double crossed and all that

if its free I will take it to the dealers, otherwise the garage local to where I work will be getting the busines - they saved me over £400 on the 4 year / cam belt service on my mk1 vRS and used all genuine VAG parts too

same as that.

although servicing costs arent huge, the second one is aorund £280 i think...

see what other garages can do, whats the deal if you dont go to the dealers for the servicing? does it affect anything?

there is something about in the FAQ's on the Skoda website -

"Can I go to a non Å koda retailer for servicing?

Can I go to a non Å koda retailer for servicing? You are of course free to choose where you have your vehicle serviced. However, we would always recommend that a Å koda Retailer is used as they receive full training in the servicing of Skoda vehicles and are kept up-to-date with technical information. Having a service completed at a non-franchised retailer will not in itself invalidate the warranty. However, should any difficulty arise that is deemed to be as a direct result of incorrect/incomplete servicing, any remedial work required would not be covered under your new vehicle warranty. "

I think as long as a non Skoda retailer uses geniune parts, the servicing is done on time and they are a reputable firm then no problem

For me its a combination of price and convenience, I drive past this garage on the way to work, the dealers is 4 miles the other way :D

what actually occurs in a PDI?

Pre Delivery Inspection - I think they just check there's no transit damage etc, and make sure everything basically works and maybe set up a few things in it's 'brain'. A bit of spit and polish and off you go.

Finally got a build date of week 24 from a January order, will see what happens.

NICE B)

No call from my dealer :'(

but then I have to say I have been dissapointed with the level of communication from them all the way along. First new car I have ordered and while I didn't really know what to expect I thought it would be more than me ringing them to find out everything :giggle:

but hey - great news about your car Ash

DONT forget to double check the 3 year / 30,000 mile service deal ;)
