Loud beep when phone connects with Bluetooth

Featured Replies

Maybe I got it! On the iPhone, settings - sounds - turn off "change with buttons". Set your "ringer and alerts" to what you like. Then exit settings, press the volume down button to low volume. Now connect the phone to your car and enjoy low connection beep :)

My "Change with Buttons" is set to ON, with volume right up and I still have a silent connection, not had chance to try a Nokia yet, will do so when SWMBO gets back.

But you can't turn the beep on, I assume? I mean, there is either an error with your device in the car, or it has been configured with VCDS?

Why would I WANT to turn it on?? :o

No VCDS settings have been made regarding the phone or bluetooth, the scan also shows no faults - BUT if there is a fault present, then I would be happy with that :giggle:

I get a visual message on the maxidot to say my phone is connected, I certainly don't want or need an audible bleep to go with it.

For anyone with VCDS who wants to compare the coding, my UK supplied December 2010 Elegance (with std fit Columbus radio) is:

No fault code found.

Have you tried a different phone? Something that's not an iPhone, just to rule out the phone giving a command to beep?

Al.

I have just paired SWMBO's Nokia 6700s to my car and I can confirm that the connection is identical to my iPhone4 - completely silent

I have never said you would, I just stated that you couldn't ;-)

Wow!!!! Apple sneaked this in and I had to learn about it on a Skoda forum. Thanks for this. Finally separate volume controls for things on an iPhone. Wow.

You can turn it off with VCDS.

I know because mine was initial off and I have changed it to on - otherwise I forget the phone in the car :-)

I can also now confirm this, as I have just turned it off in a Yeti with Columbus

On my bolero you can turn off the inicial conecting phone sound, sameway it turns off the sound everytime you touch the screen.

Soo no more beep sound.

How do you do it? (I assume without VCDS, wich I don't have access to)

Fotos tomorrow, after I take them :):giggle:

Like someone already said, when you hear the sound turn the radio volume knob lower, it will show phone volume. This will also make the conecting sound become lower.
