Tecniclutch SMFW

Featured Replies

Hi guys just a bit of a heads up for people thinking about ordering one of these off the bay

now bare with me im not too tecnical I booked in with my local vag specialist got a call yesterday to say that the clutch was not fitting properly when you push the clutch pedal all the way down the travel arm "the part in the clutch witch makes the clutch engage disengage" is rubbing on the clutch casing as the arm has to travel further with the SMFW being slimmer

so my cheep fix is turning out to be very expensive I called tecniclutch and they said send it back and theye would have a look at it and send a replacement out and see if I could claim for labour etc

Now as the costs are spiralling I'm afraid to do that as i have tried to claim against companies like this before and had no luck so I now have the garage trying to grind a little off the travel arm or fit a slightly larger stopper for the clutch pedal so it stops before the travel arm hits the clutch casing all in all I'm a bit devastated with it all as iv sold the octavia taken payment and I promised to sort clutch out for my mate who is buying it

i bought a mk1 tt and this clutch is swallowing all my modding money for the tt so buyers beware my experience with the tecniclutch SMFW is not a happy one

All the best Peter

Yea such is life mate tried to get awesome one but sold out lesson learnt never again!!!

Just spoke to a local Ford specialist. He says that they never give money back - they just keep sending replacements out.

Ask your local VAG guy if he thinks the clutch is fit for purpose. If he thinks it is not, then contact Trading Standards or you will never get your money back.

Grinding worked so mot tomorrow and that's my headache over 7hours labour and 2days on the ramp though going to be expensive!!! Tecniclutch I hate you with a passion!!!

Just out of interest,if you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for the Techniclutch SMF Kit?

Only problem with mail order bits, especially bits that require alot of labour to fit,

If there wrong or dont fit then things can get really expensive,

I was interested to see the price difference between this kit and the G60/VR6 combo.

Ditto.

As most of you already know, I managed to get a complete new OE setup for £178. Which really isn't a lot of money for a new G60 fly, fly bolts, clutch bolts (all from Skoda), and an LUK (OEM) VR6 clutch kit from GSF.

Especially since it's cheaper than the kits from Valeo or Transmech!

Bodge, I went a similar way to you (except that I used a Sachs VR6 clutch and got the F/W and bolts ect from teh local VW dealer) Mine came to under £200 iirc.
